Ruta Lee Named 2012 Angel Of The Year By Angel View Organization In Palm Springs, Highlight Hollywood Exclusive

Ruta Lee is one of the busiest people on the planet. The beautiful classic film star, who has also guest-starred on virtually every TV show in history, from “The Andy Griffith Show,” “Twilight Zone,” “Lucy” and countless others, became famous as one of MGM’s greatest leading ladies. Lee worked with Tyrone Power and Marlene Dietrich and Elsa Lanchester in “Witness For The Prosecution.” She also starred in the iconic film “Seven Brides For Seven Brothers,” as one of the brides-to-be and worked opposite Sammy Davis, Jr., Frank Sinatra, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford and Dean Martin in the 1962 film “Sergeants 3.” Ruta just this month made a guest-starring appearance on NBC’s hit daytime soap “Days of Our Lives,” and Highlight Hollywood can report exclusively that the beautiful Ruta Lee is this year’s recipient of Angel of the Year for the Angel View Crippled Children’s Organization.

The Angel View Crippled Children’s Organization is Palm Springs’ most esteemed and oldest children’s charity in the Desert. Lee joins last year’s recipient, the iconic Barbara Sinatra, who was married to musical icon, singer, actor and director Frank Sinatra, who was best known in this town as one of the most philanthropic men in American history. Ruta and her husband businessman Webb Lowe have a home in Palm Springs, she also has one in Texas, Mexico City, Mexico as well as in the Laurel Canyon region of the Hollywood Hills. Ruta’s beautiful Italian Villa in the Hills was the former home of Columbia Film star Rita Hayworth, when she was married to “Citizen Kane” director Orson Welles.

Highlight Hollywood spoke with Lee today and she tells us exclusively, “I am very honored. Tommy, it means so much. I am just grateful that I have the opportunity to help others. It is one of the most important charities on the planet. Anything that helps children is something that will always be close to my heart.” When asked how honored she is to be the successor and recipient this year right after her friend Barbara Sinatra was given the honor. Lee told Highlight Hollywood, “I’m pinching myself. I can’t believe they’d choose lil ole me!”

Well, they did. The esteemed organization works hard to build the lives of children who suffer from physical disabilities. Whenever Ruta is not working in Hollywood or traveling the world, she’s always busy being involved with charities and this is just one of many. For many years, Ruta led The Thalians, an organization which helped the mentally ill in America, and it was no surprise to us when we heard that she had been given this honor, which she will receive the certificate and plaque next month in the Desert of Palm Springs.

The event is held this year on President’s Day, February 20 at the famed DORAL Desert Princess Resort/Hotel on Vista Chino in Palm Springs. The luncheon is only $75.00, which includes drinks and even parking. What a deal, and it is for charity too! For anyone who wishes to stay at the luxurious hotel, the DORAL is offering Angel View guests a rate of only $99.00. You can’t beat these deals and be helpful to young crippled children as well. Ruta will be there, and Highlight Hollywood will cover the event for our readers, millions of which are huge Ruta Lee fans, as I am.

For more information go to: www.angelview.org/. And the event will be an all-star, fun filled day of auctions, bazaars and meeting and greeting your favorites. All to help the children! God bless Ruta Lee for all she does for so many disadvantaged children. And thank you to Angel View for realizing all that Ruta Lee works for on a daily basis. Helping others is how she lives her life!
