Actress And Famed Author Cathy Arden's Top Five Picks For Oscar Glam, Highlight Hollywood Exclusive
Beautiful actress and bestselling author Cathy Arden enjoyed the Oscars on Sunday night with dear friends. Although the action was on Hollywood Blvd. at Highland, there were millions of Oscar parties around the world in homes across America, Australia, the United Kingdom, and for the first time, many in China enjoyed their own brand of Oscar celebrations. Having my friend Sandra Bullock speak in Manderin Chinese was most likely a highlight there in China, but here in Hollywood, it’s all about the fashion. “It was one of the most beautiful evenings for Oscars, Tommy,” said Cathy Arden. “This year it was truly glamorous, and I truly enjoyed most of the gowns this year.” Arden can be seen on Friday night’s opening of Tanna Frederick’s amazing play “Why We Have A Body.” Cathy and Tanna worked together in the hit L.A. production of “Sylvia,” directed by famed entertainment giant Gary Imhoff, and Cathy, Tanna and I recently wrapped a Rainbow Films feature film “The ‘M’ Word,” by legendary director Henry Jaglom.
I had to ask Cathy who her favorite five were at last night’s Academy Awards, and she quickly came up with her choices! "My top 5 picks of the night are; Penelope Cruz wearing Armani Privé. My #1 pick! I don’t think she’s ever disappointed me! Stunning and classy and sexy — always,” said Arden. “Did anyone notice that Meryl Streep wore a gold gown tonight, just as she did when she won the Oscar for Sophie’s Choice? I wonder if she felt it was good luck! Tonight her gold Oscar gown was Lanvin, and I thought she looked gorgeous! Yay Meryl!”
Cathy also thought Emma Stone made the cut. “Loved her red Giambattista Valli gown. Emma is completely authentic and charming and hilarious — and courageous! Her gown was gorgeous and completely suited her personality tonight,” Cathy Arden added. “Glenn Close looking absolutely striking in Zac Posen gown! Completely and utterly impressive! She looked stunning.”
And my friend Gwyneth Paltrow dazzled as well. Cathy agreed, “Yes Tommy, Gwyneth Paltrow’s stunning white Tom Ford gown with cape kept her warm on a chilly Red Carpet night! A unique touch for the Red Carpet, I thought. Total class, that Gwyneth! And can you ever go wrong with Tom Ford? I don’t think so,” Cathy concluded. Surely, she’s right. Tom Ford is my favorite designer, and I wore a Tom Ford original last evening, and so did Colin Firth and other stars. Beverly Hills socialite Constance Towers, who is married to former Ambassador to Mexico and businessman John Gavin tells Highlight Hollywood, “Tom Ford’s designs are always beautiful. Even for women. Tom unlike most other designers, truly makes elegant and feminine clothing for women in addition to amazing outfits for men as well.” Towers co-starred with Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Douglas in “A Perfect Murder.” Paltrow’s mother Blythe Danner is a longtime friend of the actress’s.
Now that the Oscars are behind us, it’s time to get back to work! Have a great Monday!
