Sunday night at the OSCARS was not without drama for at least one showbiz Queen. Actress Sean Young was arrested for allegedly assaulting a security guard outside the Oscar Ball, but that’s not the way Sean or other witnesses see it. Sean felt abused by the security guard, and has documented bruising on her arm, which she claims was caused when she was allegedly man-handled by at least one security guy, and she’s not too happy about it. Though she was booked, a source within the Hollywood Police Dept. tells Highlight Hollywood, that Sean Young was a total lady when she arrived at the station and was very calm and just unhappy by the way she believes she was mistreated. Sean Young has had a few scuffles on Oscar night in the past, but this time it landed the beautiful “The Man Who Came Back” and “The Young and the Restless” star behind bars.
Actress Sean Young was arrested after a scuffle with a security guard at the official post-Oscars party, police said Monday. Young, 52, was placed under citizen’s arrest at the Governors Ball at 9:25 p.m. Sunday after the dispute, police Cmdr. Andrew Smith said. “She was trying to get into the party and couldn’t get in,” he said. Young, who has starred in “Blade Runner” and “Stripes,” was booked at the Hollywood police station for investigation of misdemeanor battery. She posted $20,000 bail and was released early Monday.
The actress was taken into custody quickly, said Tom Januszewski, an Associated Press business executive who witnessed the incident told CBS News. He said he saw a guard subdue Young by placing his forearm on her neck and head while other guards placed her in handcuffs and led her away. “It happened incredibly fast,” he said, adding that while the guards were forceful with Young, they didn’t use unnecessary force. “I thought it was incredibly well-handled.” Young was wearing a ball gown but didn’t speak as she was being led away, Januszewski said.
The actress was previously accused of trying to crash the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2006. She entered rehabilitation for alcohol abuse in 2008 after she was removed from the Directors Guild of America awards.
A voicemail message left early Monday for Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences publicist Tarrah Lee Curtis wasn’t immediately returned. A call and email to Sean Young was also not returned by press time. However, on the star’s Facebook page, Sean Young said to her fans, “I just want everyone to know that I was sober, extremely well behaved when a very stupid security guard went postal on me and then The Academy’s very stupid lawyer recommended a “private person’s arrest” and I have grounds for a lawsuit against the Academy although I believe a public apology to me would be much better. I am OK and I have the Hollywood Police Stations support who very carefully and kindly photographed the bruises on my arms which this guard is responsible for doing [Sic].”
All the mean-spirited press that has been going around is uncalled for. Sean Young deserves a bit more respect than what the media has been giving.
