American Art Awards Names Best Galleries In California, Idaho, Minnesota, New Jersey and Nebraska, Highlight Hollywood Exclusive Interview With AAA President Bierdz

In March, the American Art Awards selects the best galleries in 25 states. In August, these esteemed galleries vote on art images entered by emerging painters, photographers and sculptors in www.AmericanArtAwards.com . President of the award program, actor/author/artist Thom Bierdz, explains why AAA selected these final five galleries.  AAA President, Thom Bierdz speaks exclusively to Highlight Hollywood about the latest additions.
Best Gallery In California 2012 is The McLoughlin Gallery of San Francisco. http://www.mgart.com/
Bierdz says, “We flipped when we saw the sheep sculptures and were also mesmerized by provocative marble statues. McLoughlin’s art resonates a social conscience and we are excited for this gallery owner to see the American Art Awards (AAA) submitted art to get their take on what new AAA artists will be socially relevant. Like AAA, McLoughlin has a mix of European and American artists. They are wonderfully contemporary, even futuristic.”
Best Gallery In Idaho is Frederick Boloix Fine Art in Ketchum. http://www.boloix.com/
Bierdz’s eyes widen, “Okay, this gallery has Chagalls, Picassos, Matisses, Magrittes – but even the caliber of mid-career artists is astonishing. So we really trust the eye of Frederick Boloix who has been successful dealing art for 22 years. Some people have a knack for discovering and uncovering ‘great’ art and Frederick has that gift.”
Best Gallery In Minnesota is Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis. http://rosaluxgallery.com/
Bierdz: “We love that this is the longest running collective art gallery in Minnesota. It’s a progressive and savvy gallery knowledgeable of grants, residencies and awards. They really understand what AAA is trying to do by bringing recognition to new artists and offering them a launching pad and the social and business tools they need to self-promote and stay fresh in the art world. This is a gallery that gels very well. They exude a nice synchronicity which is indicative of a team with much mutual respect.”
Best Gallery In New Jersey is Parlor Gallery in Asbury Park. http://www.parlor-gallery.com/
“This place is happening,” Bierdz affirms, “It is the place to go in the arts district of artsy Asbury Park because they are innovative and fun. People want to go because it is trendy but they stay because the art makes them feel good. They show both emerging and established artists and have a real good eye for pop and mainstream, as well as abstract, art brut and even graffiti. They are edgy in the cleanest, most organized way and do a large amount of corporate sales because their art is consumer-friendly. We at AAA welcome their commercial-steady gallery eyes to vote on AAA submissions, especially our POP category.”
Best Gallery In Nebraska is The Burkholder Project in Lincoln. http://www.burkholderproject.com/msie.html/
Bierdz smiles, “A wonderful artist named Anne Burholder bought a complex in downtown Lincoln’s Haymarket District to house dozens of artists and exhibit their artwork. Burkholder Project is 36 ‘living galleries’ where the artists reside in lofts or connected apartments, juxtaposed with three main galleries. I am personally so impressed at human beings who create an alternative art-is-the-main-priority world. I deal with frustrated artists all the time who lack a support system and am so inspired by how Anne evolved this spectacular artist community. What a great way for a successful artist to give back. AAA likes to associate with galleries who ‘grow’ artists to this extent.”
