James Bond’s next assignment is huge! Daniel Craig as James Bond will be Opening the Olympics for London’s 2012 games. Handsome international British superstar Daniel Craig says, he’s happy to shoot an introduction to the games, and he was ecstatic to get a personal handwritten invitation from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Now that Daniel’s head is safe, he can just skirt on over to the Tower of London and tape things now. Highlight Hollywood has learned a couple ideas the British government and the Olympic committee are thinking about the handsome blue-eyed James Bond!
On top of it all, guess what? Award-winning Irish Director Danny Boyle from (“Slumdog Millionaire” and “Trinspotting”)
Craig, director Danny Boyle (“Slumdog Millionaire,” “Trainspotting”) and a film crew were given “unprecedented access” to the monarch’s private rooms during the shoot.
In the short film, titled “The Arrival,” Bond reportedly arrives at Buckingham Palace to get his instructions before being taken by helicopter to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, East London, where he will parachute into the arena.
Even 85-year-old Queen Elizabeth may make a cameo in the short, but the palace is keeping the details under wraps. “The Arrival” will be reportedly shown inside the Olympic stadium and to viewers at home when the London games kick off on July 27.
The collaboration is significant for both the monarch and the fictional British superspy – 2012 is the year of the queen’s Diamond Jubilee (marking her 60 years on the throne) and also the 50th anniversary of the James Bond films.
You know, I’m not a sports fan at all, but I may have to watch this year’s Opening Games! At least, “The Arrival” portion of it!
