Soaps In Depth magazine has been breaking news all week, and it’s just Tuesday night! The most sophisticated, respected by the stars and we publicists, and the most newsy page-turner when it comes to the soap world, does it again. Highlight Hollywood has learned thanks to CBS Soaps In Depth that my “As The World Turns” three-time Emmy winner Jennifer Landon, the daughter of the legendary Michael Landon has landed a role on CBS’s “The Young and the Restless.” Also, In Depth says my pal Grayson McCouch is headed to the primetime drama “Hollywood Heights,” and “Guiding Light” alum Ron Raines has been nominated for a Tony Award for his legendary stage work.
AS THE WORLD TURNS fan favorite and Hollywood leading man Grayson McCouch (Dusty) is the latest daytime star to join the cast of the upcoming Nickelodeon daily drama HOLLYWOOD HEIGHTS! McCouch will play Dr. Don Masters in the teen-orientated series, which is being helmed by former GENERAL HOSPITAL executive producer Jill Farren Phelps and stars Brittany Underwood (Langston, ONE LIFE TO LIVE), James Franco (Franco, GH) and Cody Longo (ex-Nicholas, DAYS OF OUR LIVES). Filming is currently underway for the series, based on a Spanish telenovela, which is set to debut in June as part of the cable network’s Nick At Nite block.
Paul’s daughter is coming back to Genoa City! THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS has cast AS THE WORLD TURNS fan favorite Jennifer Landon (Gwen) in the role most recently played by Eden Riegel. During her 2005-’08 tenure at ATWT, Landon — the daughter of the late TV icon Michael Landon — won three back-to-back Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Younger Actress category. She returned to the soap in 2010 as ATWT was coming to an end. Heather left town last year with her career and reputation in tatters after Restless Style posted photos — taken by her own brother, Ricky — of her drunken hook-up with Adam. According to TV Guide, which first broke the news, Landon reports to the Y&R set tomorrow and will make her debut on Thursday, June 7.
And last but certainly not least, congrats to “Guiding Light” leading man Ron Raines, who has been nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway revival of Follies! Not only did Follies receive a nod as Best Revival Of A Musical, but Raines and co-star Danny Burstein will both be competing for the Best Performance By An Actor In A Leading Role In A Musical! In all, Follies garnered eight nominations.
The 66th Annual Tony Awards will honor theater professions for distinguished achievement on Broadway with a three-hour ceremony to be broadcast live on Sunday, June 10, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Good luck, Mr. Raines!
