When you watch the misery of many of Hollywood’s greatest icons as they near 70, you are heartened that a man like Neil Diamond chose not to live his life as a total narcissist, and has always given love and affection to others, including his fans. The handsome newlywed shared a photo with readers and his fans, and gave People and exclusive interview, where he said, “The wedding was incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it,” the 71-year old music legend said of his April 21 nuptials to music manager Katie McNeil.
“It was great to have family there that I haven’t seen in years … and to meet the new Irish side of the Diamond family,” adds the singer-songwriter, who shared a photo from their big day via his Twitter account on Wednesday.
Diamond, 71, and McNeil, 42, who met in 2007 when he signed to the management company where she worked, celebrated their love with 225 friends and family members inside what the bride describes as a “romantic, enchanted garden atmosphere” created by wedding planner Mindy Weiss at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
“At the end of the night, we decided not to take the arranged limo waiting for us,” recalls McNeil, who wore a dress by Monique Lhuillier. “Instead I drove us home in my wedding gown, which barely fit in the little sports car – the lace was piled on Neil’s lap in the passenger seat. It was a hilarious sight. We laughed all the way home.’
People has more wedding photographs in their Friday issue.
