HBO Confirms Debut Dates For New Seasons Of ‘Treme’ And ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ And Updates Synopses/Spoilers For Season 5 ‘True Blood’ July Episodes, Highlight Hollywood News

The debut dates for the new seasons of the HBO series BOADWALK EMPIRE and TREME have been confirmed. The 12-episode third season of BOADWALK EMPIRE kicks off SUNDAY, SEPT. 16 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). Set in the 1920s in the early days of Prohibition, this Golden Globe-winning series chronicles the life and times of “Nucky” Thompson, the undisputed leader of Atlantic City. Steve Buscemi stars as Thompson; other cast members include Kelly Macdonald, Michael Shannon, Shea Whigham, Jack Huston, Stephen Graham, Michael Stuhlbarg, Vincent Piazza, Paul Sparks, Michael Kenneth Williams, Gretchen Mol and Bobby Cannavale. The series was created by Terence Winter, who also serves as executive producer with Martin Scorsese, Stephen Levinson, Mark Wahlberg and Tim Van Patten.

TREME launches its ten-episode third season SUNDAY, SEPT. 23 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT). From David Simon, creator of “The Wire” and “Generation Kill,” and Eric Overmyer, writer-producer of “Homicide: Life on the Street,” this HBO series explores a unique American culture rebuilding after historic devastation, chronicling the life of New Orleans residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Cast members include Wendell Pierce, Khandi Alexander, Clarke Peters, Rob Brown,Steve Zahn, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo, Michiel Huisman, Lucia Micarelli, Jon Seda, David Morse and India Ennenga.

Episode #54: “Hopeless”

The aftermath at the asylum leaves Sookie with an eerie sense of foreboding. At Fangtasia, Pam breaks up a vamp-girl fight, praising Tara for her tenacity. Lafayette visits Ruby Jean (Alfre Woodard), who also received a disturbing message from Jesus. Fearing for his family’s safety, Terry blames his curse for his troubles with Arlene (Carrie Preston). Alcide challenges J.D. (Louis Herthum); Sam offers to help Andy investigate the recent shootings; Roman lays out his plans to take out Russell.

Bill and Eric get a powerful taste of sacred blood. A revelation at Hot Wings causes Sookie to wonder what her life would be like without faerie powers. Meanwhile, Sam sniffs out several shifter shooters; Hoyt finds camaraderie in a new group of friends; Alcide prepares for the worst in his face-off with J.D.; Andy attempts to reconnect with Bud; Lafayette finds an unlikely ally searching for Jesus’ body in Mexico; Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) pays Tara a visit; Arlene takes a sentimental journey as her concerns for Terry deepen.

Episode #56: “Somebody That I Used To Know”

At Authority headquarters, the Chancellors revel in the afterglow of recent events; Eric gets a message from Godric; Bill is shaken by a distant memory. Helped by Claude (Giles Matthey) and his sisters, Sookie and Jason visit the site of their parents’ deaths, with shocking results. An emotional Luna tries to walk in Sam’s shoes. Hoyt’s new pals bring him a present; Lafayette leads a séance to purge a curse; J.D. ups the stakes of his fight with Alcide.
