Country week on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” ended in tears tonight. Apolo Ohno and Sabrina Bryan’s shocking return and the injury-rebound performances by Shawn Johnson and Melissa Rycroft on Monday night didn’t come close to the bigger stunner tonight on Tuesday night’s elimination evening for the stars.
It kicked off with three lowest-scoring couples – Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke, and Kelly Monaco andand Val Chmerkovskiy – all being declared safe for another week. Nancy Lee Grahn was not in her regular seat, but she arrived quickly from ABC Studios in Hollywood to root for her TV daughter, Kelly.
After Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani were first saved, it came down to perfect-scoring Ohno and Karina Smirnoff and Bryan, whose tearful dance with Louis Van Amstel was an emotional highlight this week.
In the end, it was Bryan was sent home. The contestant who barely made the all-stars – she got selected as the final entrant thanks to a fan vote – said she was “thankful for this experience.”
“Every single person can understand what it feels like to get a second chance,” she said. “This was that.”
“For me, this was a dream come true,” added Van Amstel. “Unfortunately our journey is up.”
Don’t miss “Dancing With the Stars” next Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. only on ABC.
