Academy Award Winning Costume And Make-Up Designers Pay Homage To Edith Head, Highlight Hollywood News

Mark Bridges, 2011 Academy Award winning Costume Designer for “The Artist” paid homage to one of his inspirations, Edith Head (as portrayed by Susan Claassen,) after attending A CONVERSATION WITH EDITH HEAD at The Pasadena Playhouse. In her six decades of costume design, Edith Head worked on over eleven hundred films; dressed the greatest stars of Hollywood; received 35 Academy Award® nominations, and won an unprecedented eight Oscars®. One down seven more to go for Bridges.
Long-time friends of Edith Head, Academy Award winning Mike and Marion Westmore (of the legendary House of Westmore) and McKenzie Westmore (host of “Face Off”) all attended a performance as well. Marion was a model for Edith when Mike’s office was next door at Universal. Mike saw Marion modeling a wedding gown and fell in love and they have been married ever since.

Center Theatre Group’s founding Artistic Director, Gordon Davidson, also attended a performance saying it was a “Perfectly charming evening in the presence of Edith Head as brought to life by the talented Susan Claassen.” A CONVERSATION WITH EDITH HEAD runs Thursdays through Sundays at the Pasadena Playhouse’s Carrie Hamilton Theatre through December 1, and then will be performing at Working Wardrobes in Costa Mesa December 4 and 5.
