‘Game Of Thrones’ Interview With The Former Hand-Of-The-King, Peter Dinklage Returns As The Angry Tyrion Lannister, Highlight Hollywood News

Possibly the most popular character on “Game of Thrones,” aside from the Mother of Dragons and Night Watchman Jon Snow, Tyrian Lannister ended the season permanently scarred and carrying a grudge against his sister Queen Cersei, who he believes tried to have him killed in the Battle of Black Water Bay.   He was a part of last season’s hugely popular storyline arc, and although he returns this season in a lesser capacity (hear the screaming?), Dinklage is still very excited about Tyrion’s determination to best his sister, and even to stand up to his dad, and incest-induced insane nephew, King Joffrey, who sits on the Iron Throne.
Knowing he’s cast with at least two dozen other important characters, Tyrion’s portrayer is fine with being on the backburner this season.    “I don’t mind,” he says, and then adds in a very Tyrion-like aside: “My character probably minds.”CerseiLannisterplayedbyLenaHeadey

“It’s still fun, but easier,” he says. “I’ve had fewer days shooting. With all the [show’s] different story lines, the focus sometimes shifts, which is fine.”

But, you can expect everyone in King’s Landing to notice Tyrion’s new battle wounds.  Including daddy and mean sister, Cersei.  “The three of us spar a lot this season,” Dinklage says. “That’s a challenge because we’re a family and it’s a family with a very dark history with each other. They’re really rich, really well-written long scenes — six-page scenes — of just us talking. I really want to do those justice, you really want to serve it well.”

But, don’t expect Tyrion to start whining yet. He’s been hated every since the night his mother died giving birth to him.   “He’s a survivor,” Dinklage says. “He crawls his way back, to a certain extent. But that’s what’s fun about this character. He’ll make the best out of every situation no matter what position he’s put in.”
