Courageous Catherine Zeta-Jones Enters Mental Health Facility To Deal With Bipolar Disorder, Highlight Hollywood News

With full disclosure, I will admit that Catherine Zeta-Jones’s father-in-law Kirk Douglas is a friend of mine. However, that doesn’t mean that I cannot be unbiased in my reporting.  That being said, I find her enormously brave.  In a country where we pop pills and pretend that mental illness is not a major issue, Catherine continues to show her bravery and her strength, and she has sought to be readmitted into a hospital to deal with her bipolar disorder.  Just think of the people we come in contact with daily, even family members, who need mental health services, but they and some of us claim otherwise. The fact that Catherine knows and admits when she needs help is a testament to her long marriage to Oscar-winner Michael Douglas, and having raised such amazing kids.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is returning to treatment for her bipolar II disorder.   “Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility,” her rep, Cece Yorke, tells People. “Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.”
In 2011, the actress completed a stint in a Connecticut mental-health facility for the disorder, which can cause a cycle of high and low moods, often with episodes of depression.

Good for Catherine!  Millions of people are less brave than you are.
