A female Cirque Du Soleil performer died after falling 50 feet during a performance in Las Vegas Saturday night, Las Vegas Sun journalist John Katsilometes first reported. The incident occurred at MGM Grand’s Ka, the same evening the company celebrated the opening on its 8th Vegas show, Michael Jackson ONE.
Although Las Vegas news reports have identified the performer, the Clark County Coroner’s Office has not positively identified the person. It’s the first reported death in the famed acrobatic company’s 30-year history. A comment from Cirque officials is expected Sunday afternoon.
The show was canceled after the incident.
