A&E Reportedly Renews ‘Longmire’ After Hugh Ratings Boost For Season Finale, Highlight Hollywood News

As THR reported and Highlight Hollywood has confirmed, A&E is renewing Longmire.  Following a season finale that posted highs, the cable network is planning to renew the scripted drama for a third season.“Thanks to the 5 million plus weekly fans (live+7). Young and older skewing alike! The call just came: SEASON 3 for #Longmire is a GO!” wrote executive producer/co-creator John Coveny on Twitter. Deals however, are not yet done.

Longmire delivered season highs of 4.4 million total viewers, 1.1 million in 18-49 and 1.5 million in 25-54 for the Aug. 26 finale, which was on par with the season premiere and comparable to last summer’s freshman finale.

The second season has averaged 3.7 million viewers, 942,000 in 18-49 and 1.2 million in 25-54. Longmire remains A&E’s most watched drama.

Created by Coveny and Hunt Baldwin and based on the book by Craig Johnson, Longmire centers on Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) of Wyoming’s Absaroka County, who returns to work following his wife’s death. Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Bailey Chase, Cassidy Freeman and Adam Bartley also star in the Warner Horizon-Shephard/Robin Co. production.
