Actress Jorja Fox To Introduce U.S. Premiere Of ‘Lion Ark’ At Mill Valley Film Fest, Highlight Hollywood News

Mill Valley Film Festival is to host the United States Premiere of feature documentary Lion Ark on October 5th, at the CinéArts Sequoia Theatre, with a special introduction by actress Jorja Fox who appears in the film.Made more in the style of an action adventure than traditional documentary, ‘Lion Ark’ follows an ambitious and daring animal rescue.  A shocking undercover exposé leads Bolivia to ban animal circuses. But the circuses defy the law and the Animal Defenders International (ADI) team behind the investigation returns to track them down, enforce the law and save the animals.jorjawithlion_lionarklogo1

Known to 73 million viewers worldwide for her role as Sara Sidle in TV’s CSI, Jorja Fox is an ADI Ambassador and as well as appearing in the film her company Seafox Productions is an Associate Producer of Lion Ark.

Jorja says of the moving story, “What I didn’t realize, was that it was going to be an extraordinary story about the human spirit and what the human spirit can do when people come together.”

She witnessed the first steps of the lions on grass after their incredible 3,000 mile journey to safety during the film’s dramatic finale, noting “These animals are perhaps the world’s most fearsome and feared predators and that night it was so gentle and tender.”

Mill Valley Film Festival is a celebration of the best in independent and world cinema, with a reputation as a filmmakers’ festival.  Run by the California Film Institute, the prestigious festival has established an impressive track record for launching new films and new filmmakers.

After both Mill Valley Film Festival screenings (2pm Saturday October 5th & 3pm Tuesday 8th) the audience will be able to meet and question the rescue team and the production team behind Lion Ark.

Jorja Fox:  “There is a lot of excitement about Lion Ark and we really hope that people will join us at Mill Valley Film Festival for the U.S. premiere.  This is an uplifting story of bravery, compassion, camaraderie and determination – how a poor but proud country said “no” to cruelty and how attitudes to animals were changed across an entire continent.  That rare thing, a film about a serious issue that will leave you smiling.”

Tim Phillips, ADI Vice President and Director of Lion Ark:  “The stars of Lion Ark are undoubtedly the lions.  But the film also shows that when people come together and are determined they can change the world.”
