Hollywood producer Reno Rollé has joined Adventures in Film’s production of The Platinum Bonus. Based on superstar infomercial pitchman Kevin Trudeau’s life and his most recent scheme, the Global Information Network (GIN), a secret society open to anyone willing to pay steep membership fees, Bonus is especially timely in that Trudeau has recently been jailed for contempt-of-court and failure to pay a $37 million fine for misrepresenting the content of his book, “The Weight Loss Cure ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About.”
Reno will produce along with Ira Besserman and Taylor Mills. He previously founded National Lampoon Home Entertainment in 2002, worked as Trudeau’s CEO and co-created the book and marketing campaign for “Natural Cures ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About,” a prior New York Times #1 bestseller written by Trudeau.
Trudeau’s older brother, Robert, recently came on board as an advisor along with Abe Husein, a former GIN member who lost $30,000 and spearheaded a rebellion against Trudeau with the help of ABC’s newsmagazine The Lookout and Kansas City’s KSHB-41 Action News, which has done five stories on GIN featuring Husein. Screenwriter Robin Mizrahi, who spent 10 years working as The National Enquirer’s Hollywood correspondent and broke the John Edwards-Rielle Hunter Beverly Hilton story, is writing the screenplay.
At its peak a few years ago, GIN had 38,000 members paying $150 per month in dues. “The saga of the fallen Trudeau empire reveals just how profoundly people with high charisma and low integrity can ensnare so many innocent people across society,” said Rollé, “I look forward to working with this great team on what promises to be a fun and meaningful project.”
Adventures in Film has an active slate of projects including Bad Blonde, a biography of notorious 1950’s starlet Barbara Payton based on the best-selling biography “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye: The Barbara Payton Story” by John O’Dowd. An article by O’Dowd and screenwriter Linda Boroff about Payton accompanied by an extensive photo spread is featured in the current issue of Future Claw magazine (http://futureclaw.com).
