I’ve known Kate Linder for over three-decades, and never known any celebrity who uses her fame to benefit others as much as Kate does. The beautiful star of CBS’s number-one rated drama “The Young and the Restless” tells Highlight Hollywood exclusively about her first time ever, OpportuniTeas In Calgary, Canada. The event will benefit March of Dimes-Canada. Kate’s most recent Tea event was held on December 8 in Toronto.
Some of Kate’s friends from “Y&R” also attended, including costars Jess Walton, Christian LeBlanc, Marco Dapper and “Y&R” makeup and hair experts, Patti Denney and George Guzman. Local Toronto celebrity, Leslie Roberts, Co-host of “The Morning Show” on Global Toronto TV also attended. “It was a tough day for me, Tommy. You know my dad had just died, and I had to continue the event, because he wanted me to be there. So, I kept it to myself until after the event, but had to announce it, because I was unable to stay and sign autographs. I had to be back home with my mother,” Kate tells us.
The event raised over $70,000 for March of Dimes Canada, and Kate is excited to be having this year’s event in Calgary. “It’s our first time having it there. The people in Canada are so wonderful, so welcoming and very generous. So, I do hope that many will attend. It’s very important to support this charity. The March of Dimes does so much work, they help not only children, but adults a well, Tommy,” Kate added. She is involved with the conductive education branch of this charity, and she has very high marks for the group. “Everyone involved, especially the instructors who are so giving, determined and patient. They work so hard to give people hope, and if everyone could do their part, we could accomplish so much,” the star said. “Even if it’s only $5.00, if everyone did their best we could reach so many goals to help others. And if you can’t afford to give, then give of yourself, your time, volunteer.”
This year’s event will include of course the Emmy Award-winning hair and makeup gurus, Patti Denney and George Guzman. But, when asked what cast-mates she’ll be attending with this year, Kate laughed and said, “It’s going to be fun again. This time around my TV daughter Elizabeth [Hendrickson] will be attending. Sadly, it’ll be her last event with us, since as you know she’s leaving, and I’m heartbroken over it, but certain she’ll accomplish so much. She’s so beautiful and talented. And Jess [Walton] is returning, so I’m excited and looking forward to that as well, and of course for the first time we have Tristan Rogers. It’s like a Chancellor Mansion reunion in Calgary. Look out!”
Esther’s portrayer and longtime nemesis Jill Abbott’s beautiful portrayer are so incredible to watch together. Both ladies are so talented and the bickering that you see on screen between Esther and Jill is all for the TV. They are very good friends, and Jess is happy to be attending yet again with her pal Kate.
“Get the word out, Tommy. I so appreciate all you do to support those you love, and you are always supportive of my charity work. Hope to see many wonderful fans in Calgary. Our show is still so popular with Canadian viewers, who make us all feel at home when we are there,” Kate Linder concluded.
Linder is also the Ambassador of the Conducted Education (CE) division of March of Dimes Canada.
Highlight Hollywood has also learned that the talented Patti Denney has a beautiful portrait she painted of Jeanne Cooper, and a lucky attendee will have a chance to win it. Stay tuned!
