‘The Walking Dead’ Creator Robert Kirkman Says Wildly Popular ‘Daryl Dixon Could Be Gay’, No Way! Highlight Hollywood News

It seems I’ve been under a rock, word has it that “The Walking Dead” fans have long-speculated on the sexuality of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and his potential romance with both Carol and Beth, creator Robert Kirkman has now presented us with another possible option: Could Daryl be gay? Now, I pride myself on being in the “Know,” but obviously I don’t find the fan sites and message boards that much fun. People say virtually anything and everything, and it’s a dark corner of the Internet that I find uncreative and obsessive.  But, I seem to have been missing out on something, because knowing Norman Reedus, who is the hottest and most popular star of the hit AMC zombie drama, I can tell you, he’s such a capable actor, and a nice guy that he’d be open to playing any side of Daryl.  So, who knew Daryl may have a secret side to himself?

In the letters section of The Walking Dead #130 (via, Kirkman is asked about the comic book series-only character Jesus, who — just like Daryl — is a badass, but unlike Daryl and his ambiguous sexually, has been explicitly confirmed as gay.
Comparing Jesus in the comic series to Daryl on the show, the reader offers the question as to whether or not Daryl could also be gay, to which Kirkman replies:
“All I can say is that it’s been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing… we’ll tackle it in the show.”
Really?  Somehow I don’t see testosterone-filled Daryl as gay, not saying a tough guy reeking of sex appeal can’t be gay. There is the “manly-man” Rock Hudson, that Universal Studios hunk was able to fool millions of women and men over decades.  But, Daryl?  Forgive me, I can’t see it, but hey, it is TV!
