Olympian Michael Phelps Arrested Tuesday In State Of Maryland, Highlight Hollywood News
Michael Phelps was arrested in Maryland on Tuesday for driving under the influence, Maryland police, confirmed to Highlight Hollywood. Phelps was driving 84 mph on a road where the speed limit is 45 mph at 1:40 a.m. ET. He was also charged with excessive speed and crossing double lane lines.
Phelps was charged and released.
Phelps was also arrested for a DUI in 2004, when he was 19 years old. He pleaded guilty in a plea deal and was given 18 months of probation.
In 2009, Michael Phelps was suspended for three-months by USA Swimming after a photo of the swimmer surfaced that appeared to show him smoking marijuana. Phelps has won 22 total Olympic medals, which is the most of any Olympian. 18 of his medals are gold. In April, Michael announced he was coming out of retirement. The 29-year-old has not competed since the 2012 London Olympics.
