Gold Standard Rena Sofer, Kelly Monaco, Katey Sagal, Secrets Will Destroy, Highlight Hollywood News

Rena Sofer 007
Secrets, what would soaps and primetime dramas be without them? Last week’s Leading Ladies Gold Standard goes to three beautiful actresses, who prove that they are significant and forceful players in their dramas, not just gorgeous faces. Rena Sofer, who portrays scheming Quinn on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Kelly Monaco, who portrays Sam on ABC’s “General Hospital” and Katey Sagal, who portrays evil wicked gang moll on FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” are all striking actresses, who make their characters more exciting every time they appear on the small screen.

I don’t know what Rena Sofer ever did to make us forget about Lois from ABC’s “GH,” but as “B&B’s” resident vixen, she is sexy, exciting to watch, and yes, very scary.  Quinn’s out of control it seems, but only because Hope is determined to keep Quinn away from her beloved son and future grandchild.  Hope should have figured long ago, a life with Wyatt comes with his nutcase mother, and the fact that Sofer has made us forget about the beautiful person she actually is, is a true testament to the writing and the acting on CBS’s most watched daytime drama on the planet. It’s as if every day we find Quinn threatening someone in L.A.  Something tells me that her portrayer enjoys the role of a daytime bitch, and she plays it with aplomb. The dazzling and frightening likeness as Quinn is something we’ll be talking about in the weeks to come.

“The Bold and the Beautiful” airs weekdays on CBS.

And then there’s the beautiful Kelly Monaco, who somehow make Sam a woman we all root for.  Her son is pushing her into realizing that Jason is not dead, or no longer dead, and Kelly played those scenes amazingly. Her level of talent is growing every day, as Sam and Port Charles are all in for more bombshells to be unleashed in Port Charles.  Kelly is truly in each scene, so authentic and yet you forget she’s one of the most beautiful women in the world, for an hour every day we are transported to Port Charles, and somehow Monaco makes us care about Sam.  And I have a feeling Kelly’s going to get some Emmy buzz by year’s end.
“General Hospital” airs weekdays on ABC.

While Katey Sagal is becoming one of the most sought after actresses in Tinseltown, her character Gemma is fast becoming the most hated woman on the planet.  Gemma has been watching and encouraging son Jax to spiral out of control in the hit Kurt Sutter drama “Sons of Anarchy,” and yet we feel empathy for why she’s doing it.  Gemma believes that the truth of who killed Tara (we know she did), that it would disrupt Jax and destroy him and his two boys’ lives forever.  But watching Katey play this nervous and yet in control villain is what primetime drama is all about.”Sons of Anarchy” airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. only on FX.
