Andrew Getty, an heir to the Getty oil fortune, was found dead at his Hollywood Hills home Tuesday. Los Angeles police are investigating. The cause of death was undetermined at this time, LAPD Sgt. Kyle Kirkman said.
Los Angeles police robbery-homicide detectives were handling the case because of its high-profile nature, a law enforcement. Just two weeks ago, Getty sought a restraining order against a woman, according to court records. His attorney declined to comment.
Authorities were converging on the compound, located at the end of a narrow, leafy street lined with gated homes.
Andrew Getty, 47, was the grandson of oil baron J. Paul Getty and part of the Getty trust. He is one of four sons of Gordon P. Getty, one of J. Paul Getty’s three sons. Gordon Getty has a net worth of $2.1 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
In 1996, Andrew Getty purchased the 70-year-old Hollywood Hills villa of three-time Oscar-winning film composer Miklos Rozsa.
