ABC Cancels ‘Revenge’ After Four Seasons, Highlight Hollywood News

Revenge will soon be coming to a close sooner than perhaps everyone expected.   ABC has canceled Revenge after four seasons, Highlight Hollywood has confirmed. The final episode of the primetime soap will air May 10.

The series recently wrote out star Madeleine Stowe‘s Victoria Grayson and as lead Emily VanCamp has been looking to further explore her feature film career following roles in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as well as The Girl in the Book, among others.

The move comes as Revenge has seen its ratings fortune dwindle. Since its breakout start four years ago, the series saw showrunner Mike Kelley exit and its goodwill among critics fade after its sophomore run. The most recent season has averaged a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49 in live-plus-7.

“We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story,” executive producer Sunil Nayar told EW, which first reported the news. “We’ve been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale — which is fabulous — everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end. This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks.”
