Jessica Collins Axed As Avery On ‘The Young And The Restless,’ Two More Actresses May Soon Follow, Highlight Hollywood News

Actress Jessica Collins is headed out of CBS TV City, and just in time.   Chuck Pratt and Jill Firing Phelps had a dastardly ending planned for the beauty’s popular character Avery Clark, but CBS nixed the idea, though it should be noted that Sony’s Steve Kent was all for it, encouraging Pratt to take bold chances, in hopes of getting viewers back.
Jessica wasn’t surprised by her firing, but still saddened by it.  Jill Farren Phelps never warmed to her or her character, a source tell us.  “Jill is a cold fish with many of the women on the show, and Jessica was never one of her pets and never was going to be.  Jill sees this move as a way to further remove anyone who was on the show when she arrived, that she can actually fire and be rid of.  There are more castings coming in the next few months.”
Firing Phelps is currently negotiating her contract, and insiders at Sony say that she’s willing to take a hefty pay cut if it means she can stay on board.  “She’s using everyone she can to get out propaganda about the ratings and her Emmy wins, but in the end, it may not make a difference. CBS is finally wising up to Sony’s shenanigans and they have seen a fan revolt like none other before,” a CBS source tells us.  “Jill has two more actresses on her hit list, and the only reason they haven’t been given pink slips is her own situation is tenuous at best.”

The status of Collins and co-star Scott Elrod (Joe) have rumored in recent weeks, however “Y&R” has only confirmed the exit of Collins this summer thus far.

Stay tuned.
