Tony Winning Actress June Lockhart Ends Ten Days Of Celebrating With Big 90TH Birthday Bash, Highlight Hollywood News

 Gary Greene, Esq. and His Big Band of Barristers, known as “America’’s #1 Legal Band,” Performed a Concert for Hundreds in Beverly Hills Honoring June Lockhart.  “Ten days of parties! If I had known turning 90 was going to be this much fun, I might have arranged to do it sooner,” June Lockhart tells Highlight Hollywood.

Hundreds of people filled Beverly Canon Gardens on Thursday evening, June 25 to honor actress June Lockhart on the occasion of her 90th birthday. Gary Greene, Esq. and His Big Band of Barristers played the classic songs from the big band era as members of the audience sang and danced. Beverly Hills City Councilmember Nancy Krasne presented Lockhart with a proclamation and noted that Lockhart resided in Beverly Hills for more than two decades from the 1940s to the mid 1960s. Krasne said, “This proclamation is to recognize the 90th birthday of June Lockhart, an entertainment industry icon.”

Composer Richard Sherman (Mary Poppins, It’’s A Small World and dozens of Disney classics) was on hand to wish June a Happy 90th. Actress Marta Kristen who played Lockhart’’s daughter in the television series Lost in Space came for the festivities. Greene and his Big Band of Barristers played a new arrangement of The World is Waiting for the Sunrise, a piece composed by Lockhart’’s father, Gene Lockhart. Greene said, “My band and I were thrilled to perform for June’s 90th birthday in a magical setting before such a large and loving audience. June is an amazing woman who touches the lives of millions of people of all ages. It was an evening we will all treasure.” Greene, who emceed the program, told the audience about the new award his Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic (the big band’’s umbrella organization) presented to Lockhart at Walt Disney  Concert Hall on June 13. The new award joins the Tony, Emmy, Oscar and Grammy, and is called the “Junie.” Greene said, “This annual award will be presented to an individual like June who has made significant contributions for the betterment of our world.”
And the first recipient of the crystal and marble statue that bears an image of the actress was the actress herself.

Gary Greene, Esq. and His Big Band of Barristers made its debut on January 21, 2012 at the Radio Television News Association’’s 62nd Annual Golden Mike Awards, and actress June Lockhart was there.
After playing two more gigs, the Big Band of Barristers entered the Battle of the Lawyer Bands nationwide competition sponsored by the American Bar Association. They were selected as a finalist and invited to perform the final rounds of competition in Chicago. On August 4, 2012, the band was featured at the Chicago Art Institute and competed against bands from Orlando, Detroit and Chicago. And, by an overwhelming vote of the more than 2,000 in attendance, Greene and His Big Band of Barristers took the top honors.
The big band has played dozens of concerts at a variety of venues. On May 1, 2013, they performed for the official Law Day Ceremonies in the City Council Chambers at Los Angeles City Hall. In January 2014, the Barristers together with the Lawyers Phil performed at the Saban Theatre for Beverly Hills’ 100th Anniversary. Then, in November 2014, the band performed a Veterans Day Concert at the Shrine Auditorium.

Composed of lawyers, judges, law students and legal staff, the Barristers perform music from the Golden Era of the big bands. Their mission is to raise funds for those who cannot afford legal services and other charitable organizations.
