Snikwah Performance Apparel Partners With 2015 Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro Surf Event This Weekend In Oceanside, Calif., Benefits PSOS, Highlight Hollywood News
Highlight Hollywood has confirmed that Snikwah UPF 50 performance apparel has been named the official shirt of the 2015 Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro, the world’s largest female surfing competition.
Snikwah is a partner in Paul Mitchell’s upcoming free event. The competition includes more than 100 top ranked pros from the WSL Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT) and takes place in Oceanside, CA from July 24-26.
Some of the world-class surfers registered to compete this weekend include Sage Erickson, 2014 Supergirl Pro winner, Alana Blanchard, Lakey Peterson, Malia Manuel, Coco Ho, Courtney Conlogue, Laura Enever, Johanne Defay, Nikki Van Dijk and Tatiana Weston-Webb.
“We are excited to be a part of Supergirl Pro and supporting such an impressive group of athletes,” said Snikwah CEO, Roy Smith in a statement to Highlight Hollywood.
This event features a weekend filled with surfing, a festival village with female inspired apparel and accessories and athlete autograph signings.
There will be exciting entertainment throughout the weekend, which includes live music, dancers, fitness classes, inspirational speakers and a food and beer garden.
As Supergirl Pro’s official apparel partner, Snikwah will be providing the entire event staff and each surf contestant with an Original Snikwah performance shirt. This shirt has an UPF 50+ rating. The Snikwah Original also helps regulate body temperature with Drirelease®, a fabric with wicking ability that keeps you cooler in hotter temperatures and warmer in colder temperatures.
“The Original features a patented, convertible neck that lets the wearer control the level of protection exactly where and when they you need it. It can be worn down, with the neck extended to cover your mouth, as a full buff or as a hood,” the Snikwah CEO added.
Snikwah also features a line of rashgaurds called Hydros. “The Hydros which conform to the body like a glove, are designed to protect surfers from the elements and regulate the wearers’ body temperature whether they are in tropical surf or in colder waters,” Smith said.
Because of these revolutionary features, Snikwah is slated to be awarded the Drirelease® Innovation Award in August. The award celebrates innovation in design and construction of active wear that enhances the comfort of participants who compete or engage in high- energy pursuits.
“We are delighted to recognize Snikwah Worldwide and its commitment to superior comfort through the Snikwah Original line of shirts that balance function with everyday utility,” said Darryl Schimeck, chief executive officer of Optimer Brands.
Snikwah will also display its design ingenuity at the competition with a Supergirl Pro limited edition shirt. Proceeds will be donated to Project Save Our Surf, which is dedicated to the conservation of oceans and its marine ecosystems. The charity was established in 2008 by actress and philanthropist Tanna Frederick. Frederick has recently been named to Snikwah’s roster of brand ambassadors.
