Best Naive Art 2015 Goes To Dascalu, Koh, Song, Jeon, Verny-Franks And Yang

Highlight Hollywood has the exclusive rights to reveal the results of the 50 categories of winning artists in the American Art Awards, decided by the 25 Best Galleries In The Nation. In a series of articles expanding through October, we will reveal, in daily features, the 1st to 6th Place winning images with artists info, one category at a time.
Please check in daily for brilliant paintings, photography, digital images and sculpture in genres from portrait to floral to impressionism, realism, landscape, innovative, cubism, self-portrait, etc.
This year the online contest had submissions from 35 countries including Aruba,Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain,South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand, UK, United Arab Emirates and USA.
I interviewed president of, Thom Bierdz (The Young & The Restless and painter of the BLUE X paintings) and asked which artists this year won the NAIVE ART category.
Bierdz explained, “Mihai Dascalu from Romania had the highest-scores again this year. I think Dascalu is the greatest naive painter alive today. His credits are endless, our galleries always award his work with top honors. His work is timeless and classically naive. He is a genius in that genre and makes Romania proud. South Korean artists also did very well in this category this year.”

Dascalu was born on May 1, 1960, in the town Voctoria, jud. Brasov. He graduated from the Faculty of Geodesy Bucharest in 1984, and the same year discovered naive painting. Between 1984 and 2000 he resided in Resita, Caras Severin. In 2000, Mihai Dascalu moved to Oradea, Bihor County, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
Dascalu has written four books on art naive with Gustav Hlinka and Costel Iftinchi.  Dascalu has painted over 600 naïve works on canvas, wood or glass. In 2014, he organized the first Salon of Naive Art in Oradea, in 2014, and created to promote naïve painters from Romania on the Internet.
