Every year, and 2015 is no exception, there are TV Standouts, people who have just the edge, the charisma and talent that seem to make them shine. Daytime TV has many, and it’s really a difficult time editors have choosing just two. With so many Primetime TV stars to choose from, it may seem tougher, but it’s less so. This year the people that really seemed to hit every high note in their performances, each had exceptional stories to play out.
For our Daytime Duo, they happen to be costars on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and did they ever show that they have what it takes to go against the grain. Thorsten Kaye, who portrays Forrester scion Ridge Forrester and Spencer heiress Caroline Spencer Forrester is played by one of the most fresh, fascinating, beautiful and uber-talented leading ladies, Linsey Godfrey. Put that name in your “remember when” list, when this young beauty is cast in a Spielberg or Scorsese film, and is propel into mega-stardom in Hollywood.
These two have such undeniable chemistry, they are definitely a rare find. Brad Bell and his crack writing team crank out storyline after storyline, and each performer hits it out of the park, bigtime. They can be seen on CBS’s “The Bold and the Beautiful,” which remains Daytime TV’s most watched drama around the planet.
Other standouts in TV, this time primetime include Emmy Award-winner Peter Dinklage, who portrays long suffering Lord Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s monster hit drama “Game of Thrones.” Dinklage is just unique in his ability to make the viewer empathize with anything he does. Tyrion murdered his father, then found himself face to face with the Dragon Queen, and he charmed her into not only not killing him, but in making him her adviser. The charm Peter uses in the role is legendary, but he simply seems to get better with every episode, and each season. You won’t want to miss him in April, as Tyrion is charged with ruling the ancient City of Meereen, and he knows, Winter is Coming. The following is the scene fans waited five years to see, when Tyrion and the Dragon Queen meet.
Meanwhile, Norman Reedus, who portrays Daryl Dixon on the zombie apocalypse drama “The Walking Dead” on the AMC Network regularly trends social media when his character Daryl is in danger. #IfDarylDiesWeRiot, sends chills down the spines of the show’s creator and his team of writers and producers. Everyone has to be on the chopping block of sorts on a zombie apocalypse series, but it had better not be Norman, who has a great ability to go from tough guy to the sweetest friend anyone can have when the world is falling apart.
“The Walking Dead” returns on Valentine’s Day, and it won’t be a loving matter, because death follows. Will it be Daryl? Oh well, if so, we all riot, right? Well, his greatest test is meeting the most evil villain in TV history, Negan, which he’s about to meet on Valentine’s Day.
Lady Gaga stars as an ancient vampire on Ryan Murphy’s hit FX series “American Horror Story: Hotel,” and Wes Bentley plays the murderous LAPD detective John Lowe, who was revealed as the Ten Commandments Serial Killer. I shall not tell a lie, these two have been sensational to watch all season on the anthology series, but can you believe they haven’t shared one scene together? Is that about to change next week when we return from the midseason finale? One can hope so.
Gaga’s Countess is just creepy and scary as hell. Who knew that mega-singer Lady Gaga was also a great actress as well? I surely did not, and I bet most of you didn’t either. But, we all knew that Wes Bentley was one of the best actors not only in TV but also in movies as well.
These actors are sure to be exciting to watch in 2016, because they were definite Standouts in 2015. And you’d better not miss next week’s return on Wed. Jan. 6. Preview below:
