In addition, attorneys Samantha F. Spector and Joseph P. Koenig said in a statement released through Heard’s publicist that she has since talked to the Los Angeles police again to have them investigate Depp.
“Amber did not provide [an initial] statement to the LAPD in an attempt to protect her privacy and Johnny’s career,” according to the lawyers’ statement. “Johnny’s team has forced Amber to give a statement to the LAPD to set the record straight as to the true facts, as she cannot continue to leave herself open to the vicious false and malicious allegations that have infected the media.”
Heard was granted a restraining order from Depp last week after she told a judge that Depp was both physically and verbally abusive and she was scared of him. Her request came not long after it was announced she was seeking a divorce from the actor. They have been married a little more than a year.
Along with her testimony to the judge, Heard provided pictures of injuries to her face that she claims were inflicted by Depp during their most recent argument. Heard’s attorneys said Tuesday “Amber is the victim. Amber is a hero.”
The legal team also said their client tried to make the divorce private, adding it was filed on the same day Depp’s newest Alice film opened and news of the decision didn’t make headlines until a few days afterward.
Depp’s legal team has denied any wrongdoing.
