‘Finding Dory’ Is Fastest Animated Film To Cross $300 Million Domestic Mark, Highlight Hollywood News

“Finding Dory” is the fastest animated movie to cross the $300 million domestic benchmark, Disney announced Wednesday. In just 12 days, the Disney Pixar film made a domestic cumulative of $311.2 million, surpassing the previous record of 18 days held by “Shrek 2” and “Toy Story 3.” Those films went on to gross $441 million and $415 million, respectively.

“Finding Dory” is the 11th animated film to surpass the $300 million mark and is Disney’s fourth release of 2016 to do so. It is the studio’s 18th film to make over $300 million domestically.findingdory_disney

Globally, the film starring Ellen DeGeneres, Ed O’Neill, Albert Brooks, Diane Keaton and Ty Burrell has grossed $433 million, from which $121.8 million comes from international territories.

“Finding Dory” opens in Brazil and the Netherlands this weekend, and the film has still to open in territories like Mexico, Japan and Germany.
