‘The Young And The Restless’ EP Jill Farren Phelps Is Out, With Pratt And Fisher And Several Execs In Jeopardy, Highlight Hollywood News

Jill Farren Phelps, AKA: Jill Firing Phelps is now gone from “The Young and the Restless” as executive producer. Her long and very blistering history on soaps is something every soap fan knows a great deal about.  For years she went from soap to soap, essentially gutting them, then she’s start firing actresses, having writers dumb down female characters and then ultimately the baby-killing would commence.  Her allies Steve Kent at Sony and Angelica McDaniel at CBS are both struggling to keep their own jobs in the wake of colossal failures.  Sony as we have been reporting is undergoing huge changes within its TV division and CBS’s President Les Moonves has no time to worry about McDaniel’s tenure at CBS, he has his own up in the air as Viacom is in very much turmoil with Sumner Redstone’s family trying to shove him out of power.
But it was Jill Firing Phelps who created the most damage at Bill and Lee Phillip Bell’s venerable soap “Y&R,” which throughout this horrible woman’s reign has lost all semblance of romance and storytelling and with the help of co-producer and head writer Chuck Pratt has turned into a show about “disasters.”  Plus, it was the disastrous handling of Michael Muhney and Billy Miller’s departures that showcases this horrible woman was as arrogant as ever, and as incompetent.  Her unprofessionalism was obvious to everyone. The fans always knew that she was unkind and didn’t care what they thought, but these two actors were used  and discarded when she was done with them.  But, it was her handling of Jessica Collins exit that showed everyone what Firing Phelps is best known for. Her dislike of women is legendary in this business.  Not one woman who has worked for Phelps will disagree with me.
The much hyped John Fisher in the supervising producer-mode has also been a huge failure for the show.  CBS and Sony are hoping to stem the damage that all of these people created for a soap that was once considered the best and most elegant Daytime TV show in history.  Jill Farren Phelps fought very hard to keep her job, but in the end, Steve Kent is holding on to his own at Sony by a thread, and Angelica McDaniel, an inexperienced executive at CBS is notorious for throwing any woman under the bus in order to save her own job.  So, Jill’s pitch over the past months has always been that her experience was her asset.Let’s see, her experience as a soap killer as an asset?  In the end, that argument made no sense.  Sadly CBS and Sony needs to continue cleaning house at “Y&R” to save this show.  Fisher and Pratt should both follow Firing Phelps and immediately.  The network is known for not wanting to rock the boat, but they need to get rid of these people before it sinks. “The Young and the Restless” is unwatchable, the destruction of characters followed the intense destruction of sets. The idea that Sony knew what they were doing when they gained control over a deceitful power play with the Bell family was something many fans either didn’t understand, had bought the Sony, CBS propaganda and/or didn’t realize was going on.  But, this has played out very publicly since Jill Firing Phelps and her “limited” media allies and cronies have been trying to sell her as some savior for “Y&R.” As one journalist told me at the time, “She’s the one, she will do wonders with the show!” Now that person has egg on his face and sadly “Y&R” fans had to suffer because of dirty-dealing by Sony and CBS.
Jill Farren Phelps hopefully won’t be headed to anymore jobs anywhere in this business or town. She is not only incompetent and despicable, but unworthy and ultimately the “fall guy.”  CBS and Sony both have a great deal more of house cleaning, now fans need to pressure the execs at both studios to rid the show of Fisher as well as Pratt.   Fans need to tell CBS and Sony to get their egos and agenda out of the way and save “Y&R” from this corrupt, incompetent bunch.  Clean house!
