Handsome British leading man Tom Hardy is the latest A-list movie star to continue bringing his talents to the small screen. Hardy has had a supporting role on the Netflix/BBC series Peaky Blinders since Season 2. Taboo marks his first leading role on a TV series since the BBC mini The Take, back in 2009. TV is a natural fit for the actor, who tends to take on multi-layered roles, well-suited to TV’s longer format.
Hardy’s wide-ranging credits include everything from villain to hero and a few notches in between. As one of his generation’s most transformative actors, Hardy has secured a rather elusive silver screen persona.
He has played just about everything. From Bane, the bombastic villain in The Dark Knight Rises to the heart wrenching fighter in 2011’s Warrior.
The renowned British actor is coming off of a huge 2015, which included the surprise critical and commercial hit Mad Max: Fury Road. And he finished the year with his first Oscar nomination for his performance in Alejandro G. Inarritu’s The Revenant.
Taboo is set in the 1800’s. Hardy stars as the once, presumed dead James Keziah Delaney. Delaney is an adventurer, who returns home to London after a 10-year excursion in Africa. His homecoming marks the beginning of a mysterious mission that pits him against the powerful East India Company.
