Shemar Moore To Star In ‘S.W.A.T’ Reboot For CBS

Shemar Moore is returning to CBS with a high-profile new role. The former popular The Young and the Restless actor, who exited CBS’ Criminal Minds last season, has been tapped to star in the network’s drama pilot S.W.A.T.

Moore will take on the role of Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson, the character played by Samuel L. Jackson in the feature film. The character exudes calmness but is always ready for action. Hondo has all the ability to become a leader — he’s just not happy with the reason he just became one. In addition to starring, Moore will also be credited as a producer.

Aaron Thomas (Friday Night Lights) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Shawn Ryan, Marney Hochman, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Danielle Woodrow and Justin Lin, with the latter set to direct the Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios pilot. Stephanie Sigman co-stars.

The casting brings Moore back to CBS following an 11-year run on Criminal Minds as Derek Morgan, supervisory special agent of the FBI’s behavioral analysis unit.
