Meanwhile, Deadpool 2 earned around $3.8 million on Wednesday, bumping its overall domestic total to $227.7m. That’s enough to put Deadpool 2 past the $226m domestic gross of Logan. Both are over/under $100m, R-rated and 2D X-Men character-specific spin-offs that have performed better than most of the ensemble X-Men movies here and abroad. The Ryan Reynolds flick might earn $25-$30m over its third weekend to bring its domestic cume to $255m-$260m in just 17 days of release. That will already make it the seventh-biggest (unadjusted) R-rated grosser in North America, between Hangover Part II ($254.4m in 2011) and Hangover ($277.3m in 2009).
Avengers: Infinity War passes even more major box office milestones. With about $1.92 billion worldwide as of today, should be over/under $1.95b worldwide by the end of the weekend as it spends most of June fending off Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in its quest for $2b total.
It should end its sixth week with $634 million as it enters its seventh weekend. The MCU flick should earn around $9.5m over the weekend, giving it a 39-day total of around $644m. That means it should pass Jurassic World ($652m in 2015) by the end of next week, ironically on the same week it faces Fallen Kingdom in 49 overseas territories.
