Late Warner Bros. Icon Tab Hunter Life Celebration Set for Oct. 6

A Hollywood spectacle down to a red carpet life celebration for Tab Hunter will take place Oct. 6 at the AC Gallery in Hollywood, where a series of life-size paintings of the late actor by video director Vance Lorenzini will be unveiled for the first time.

Hunter, the 1950s heartthrob who portrayed Joe Hardy in the Damn Yankees! movie, had a No. 1 record and starred in two outlandish films with the drag queen Divine, died  July 8 in Santa Barbara. He was 86.

His funeral was held in a private ceremony near his home in Montecito, California, and the Oct. 6 event, hosted by Hunter’s life partner of three decades, Allan Glaser, will mark the first public occasion to memorialize him.

Lorenzini, a Hollywood art director and production designer, has created music videos for such artists as Madonna, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Elton John, Prince, Snoop Dogg, ZZ Top, Puddle of Mudd, Nine Inch Nails, Eminem, Limp Bizkit and Aerosmith. His work has been honored by the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Lorenzini has focused on nearly 20 images of Hunter for this showing. The AC Gallery celebration will take place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and the exhibit itself runs through Nov. 28.
