The awards season is just heating up for Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born, which have earned nominations for next month’s Guild of Music Supervisors Awards.bohemian_rhapsody_still_9_-_publicity_-_h_2018

The gala, now in its ninth year, recognizes the highest achievements in music supervision and exemplary work in 18 categories across movies, television, games, advertising and trailers.

“It has been a tremendous year for music-driven projects, and music supervisors have been at the forefront of some of this year’s most exciting work,” said Thomas Golubic, president of the Guild of Music Supervisors. “We are very excited to honor our nominees for their dynamic and innovative contributions to narrative storytelling in film, television, ads, promos, trailers and games. It’s going to be a fantastic show.”

A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody are on an awards-season roll. Earlier this week, the films each collected seven nominations for the BAFTA Awards and both won hardware at the Golden Globes: Bohemian Rhapsody collected honors for best motion picture drama and its lead Rami Malik claimed best actor for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. The song “Shallow” from A Star Is Born won best original song for Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt.

Also during the guild’s awards gala, King Princess, the rising singer and songwriter who is the first artist signed to Mark Ronson’s label, Zelig Records, will perform as the guild’s “spotlight artist,” while industry legend Joel Sill will be bestowed with the organization’s prestigious Legacy Award for his creative contribution to music in film. Sill’s body of work includes the classics Forrest Gump, The Goonies, Blade Runner and The Color Purple.

The awards will be handed out Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
