Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ Trailer Gives First Look at Will Smith as Genie

Disney is giving Aladdin fans a first look at Will Smith’s Genie.

The new take on its animated classic unveiled a trailer on Sunday night during the Grammy Awards,  also featuring looks at Jasmine and more scenes featuring Aladdin and Agrabah. Jafar can even be seen ushering Aladdin to the Cave of the Wonders.

Smith posted the trailer to his Instagram, writing, “I told y’all I was gon’ be Blue!!”

Director Jon Favreau — who previously helmed another Disney remake, The Jungle Book, in 2016 — is behind the new Lion King, which broke records for views after its first teaser dropped on Thanksgiving Day. Stars including Donald Glover, Beyonce and James Earl Jones are voicing the film’s iconic animals.

Disney is also set to remake animated classics including Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and Pinocchio.

Aladdin hits theaters May 24, 2019.
