Vincent Cassel has joined the cast of the HBO sci-fi drama from showrunners Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the Ocean’s Twelve and Jason Bourne grad will play a villain in the third season of the drama, which is due in 2020. In typical Westworld fashion, HBO declined comment about character details or the fashion of Cassel’s commitment to the series.
“We’re incredibly excited to work with Vincent Cassel. We’ve been longtime fans of his and are thrilled for him to join the Westworld team,” Nolan and Joy said in a joint statement Tuesday. Westworld will be Cassel’s stateside TV series regular debut.
Cassel is the latest new face to join the third season of the HBO drama, which has also added Aaron Paul and Lena Waithe. They join a Westworld cast that includes stars Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Thandie Newton, who all received big raises for the upcoming third season, according to sources.
Cassel’s credits include Black Swan, Eastern Promises and the upcoming Underwater. Follow “Westworld AfterWord” for all breaking news.
