Griggs, a lawyer for one of R. Kelly’s alleged victims, described the sources of the videos as “enablers” who “flipped” on the disgraced singer.
Authorities reportedly used the videos to help build their most recent case against R. Kelly. NYPD and FBI officers arrested the disgraced singer on Thursday in Chicago on a 13-count indictment including child pornography charges.
He is expected to be extradited to New York to face the allegations, brought by a Brooklyn federal grand jury.
According to court documents, Kelly made a sex tape with a victim who was 12-years-old when he met her. She is one of five victims involved in the case, all of whom met the singer in the 1990s.
Some of the victims were paid to keep quiet, and five said they contracted venereal disease from Kelly during unprotected sex, court papers say.
