Grassfire Breaks Out In Hollywood Hills, Is Quickly Extinguished, Man Questioned

Firefighters Wednesday extinguished a fire that scorched about a quarter-acre of brush in the Hollywood Hills, and a man was taken into custody for questioning in connection with the fire, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 9:15 a.m. near the 2600 block of North Astral Drive, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. It was burning on top of a ridge and moved downward, according to video of the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department took a man into custody “for questioning regarding the fire,” and arson investigators were sent to the scene, the LAFD reported.

No structures were threatened, and the fire was kept from spreading, but some crews remained on scene more than an hour afterward dousing hot spots.

Helicopters coordinated water drops to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
