Singer Miley Cyrus and actor Liam Hemsworth have split up, according to People. This after photos of Miley cheating with a woman surfaced online. After an on-again off-again relationship that began after they met in 2009 on the set of their movie The Last Song, the couple were married at their home in Tennessee in December 2018. “10 years later…” Cyrus captioned her wedding Instagram at the time.
Now, a representative for Cyrus tells People, “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”
Cyrus and Hemsworth have been through a break-up before, a year after Hemsworth proposed in 2012. They made amends three years later, in 2015, which eventually led to their wedding. In Cyrus’s February cover story for Vanity Fair, the singer revealed that part of the impetus for marriage was their shared experience of tragedy: in November 2018, their home burned down in the Woolsey fire. “When you experience what we experienced together with someone, it is like glue,” Cyrus said. “You’re the only two people in the world who can understand.”
“[Liam and Miley] still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart,” Cyrus’s rep’s statement concluded. “Please respect their process and privacy.”
