There were innumerable beautifully executed works entered this year – and America’s top 25 galleries and museums had a hard time selecting winners. Many wonderful pieces did not get enough votes to take 1st to 6th Place, but all the featured works shown in this article received high praise and high marks to triumph. BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER Ashley Park: award winning artist, environmental activist, and community volunteer…… As an artist she is passionate about using the power of visual arts to not only capture human emotions, but to inform, connect and inspire people’s behavior and views on societal issues impacting our communities today. Ashley has produced numerous works of art conveying thought-provoking messages and commentary on climate change and other environmental concerns. Ashley’s art has appeared at various museums and public venues across New Jersey, USA, including the Montclair Art Museum, Wyckoff YMCA and the Korean Community Center. Her environmental art pieces have won numerous awards and accolades from Scholastic Art and Writing and Bow Seat’s Ocean Awareness Contest. Most notably, Ashley’s painting — “Chain Reaction” — placed 5th in the category of surrealism at the American Art Awards in 2018.

BIO OF 1ST PLACE WINNER Ashley Park (continued): Ashley’s passion for the environment transcends her canvas and she is very active in the community in drawing attention to the challenges facing our planet, including planning a statewide protest against a power plant called “March 4 Our Lungs” in May 2019 in New Jersey, and delivering presentations on climate change at local elementary schools. Ashley has also written an academic paper researching the association between seeing visual arts and pro-environmental behavior change based on a social experiment involving high school students. As a sophomore at Bergen County Technical High School majoring in Commercial Art and Graphic Design, Ashley also serves as the treasurer of her school environmental club and is the junior commissioner of her town’s environmental commission.

President of the AMERICAN ART AWARDS is fine artist and 10X author Thom Bierdz, known globally since 1986 for playing Phillip Chancellor III on The Young and the Restless. Bierdz is set to co-host an upcoming 50 videos revealing the hundreds of stunning winning artworks of the 2019 AMERICAN ART AWARDS.
