In Yosemite National Park, people are reportedly falling ill left and right with stomach flu-like symptoms.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, at least a dozen people have reported gastrointestinal symptoms, launching an investigation by The National Park Service and the U.S. Public Health Service into the origin of the illness.
Federal health officials are now thoroughly inspecting the park’s food service facilities, including at the famous Ahwahnee Hotel, which was recently downgraded from four to three out of five diamonds in AAA’s rating system.
Yosemite spokesperson Scott Gediman told The Chronicle that Aramark, the operator of many of Yosemite’s restaurants and hotels, is conducting an “extensive clean-up and disinfection” of these businesses.
“The park is reminding all employees and visitors to wash their hands frequently and stay home if they experience any symptoms of a gastrointestinal illness,” Gediman said in a statement to The Chronicle. Read the full Chronicle story here.
